Summary of her work.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (1997)

Harry Potter has never been the star of a Quidditch team, scoring points while riding a broom far above the ground. He knows no spells, has never helped to hatch a dragon, and has never worn a cloak of invisibility. All he knows is a miserable life with the Dursleys, his horrible aunt and uncle, and their abominable son, Dudley. But all that changed when a mysterious letter arrives by owl messenger: a letter with an invitation to an incredible place. For it's there that he finds not only friends, aerial sports, and magic in everything from classes to meals, but a great destiny that's been waiting for him.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (1998)

The Dursleys were so mean and hideous that summer that all Harry Potter wanted was to get back to the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. But just as he's packing his bags, Harry receives a warning from a strange, impish creature named Dobby who says that if Harry Potter returns to Hogwarts, disaster will strike.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (1999)

For twelve long years, the dread fortress of Azkaban held an infamous prisoner named Sirius Black. Convicted of killing thirteen people with a single curse, he was said to be the heir apparent to the Dark Lord, Voldemort. Now he has escaped, leaving only two clues as to where he might be headed: Harry Potter's defeat of You-Know-Who was Black's downfall as well.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2000)

It's the pivotal fourth novel in the seven-part tale of Harry Potter's training as a wizard and his coming of age. Harry wants to get away from the pernicious Dursleys and go to the International Quidditch Cup with Hermione, Ron, and the Weasleys. He wants to dream about Cho Chang, his crush. He wants to find out about the mysterious event that's supposed to take place at Hogwarts this year, an event involving two other rival schools of magic, and a competition that hasn't happened for a hundred years. He wants to be a normal, fourteen-year-old wizard. Unfortunately for Harry Potter, he's not normal.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2003)

So spoke Albus Dumbledore at the end of Harry Potter’s fourth year at Hogwarts. But as Harry enters his fifth year at wizard school, it seems those bonds have never been more sorely tested. Lord Voldemort’s rise has opened a rift in the wizarding world between those who believe the truth about his return, and those who prefer to believe it’s all madness and lies—just more trouble from Harry Potter.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009)

As Harry Potter begins his 6th year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, he discovers an old book marked mysteriously "This book is the property of the Half-Blood Prince" and begins to learn more about Lord Voldemort's dark past.

Themes, Influences, and Style.

I believe that Mrs. Rowling is a great story-teller. She really has the teenage psyche down in most of her books, from the mood swings, to the camaraderie, and the hormones. She also has mastered the art of surprising her reader - sometimes even with an event the reader had anticipated. I felt I could see and feel the setting and emotions of her characters. Her style of writing and ability to draw emotions from her audience has improved with each book. Her genres are based on fantasy and coming of age, the series has many cultural meanings and references. Some of the stories she has written has been influenced by her life also. J.K. Rowling lost her mother, who died of Multiple Sclerosis. J.K. Rowling was very close to her mother, and she felt the loss deeply. Her own loss gave an added poignancy to the death of Harry Potter’s mother in her book. She says her favorite scene in the Philosopher’s Stone is, where Harry sees his parents in the mirror.

JK's Career

J.K Rowling was known as one of the most successful women in the world. She was also featured in the Forbes magazine. Rowling writing career started at the age of six when she wrote a story called Rabbit. Rowling wrote Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone at a table in a cafĂ© during her daughter’s naps. When Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was bought and published by Bloomsbury in 1997 her life changed dramatically, the Harry Potter series has since then won numerous awards and become a tremendous success around the world. Like that of her own character, Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling's life has the luster of a fairy tale. Divorced, living on public assistance in a tiny Edinburgh flat with her infant daughter, it was Harry Potter that rescued her. First, the Scottish Arts Council gave Rowling a grant to finish the book. After its sale to Bloomsbury and Scholastic Books, the accolades began to pile up. Harry Potter won The British Book Awards Children's Book of the Year, and the Smarties Prize, and rave reviews on both sides of the Atlantic.

All about J.K Rowling

Joanne "Jo" Murray better known as J.K Rowling was born on July 31st 1965, in Chipping Sodury. From an early age, J.K. Rowling had the ambition to be a writer. In her own autobiography she wrote that, her good friend Sean became the first person to give her the confidence that one day she would be able to make a very good writer.

he was also the only person who thought I was bound to be a success at it, which meant much more to me than I ever told him at the time” (1)

Sean was also the owner of a battered old Ford Anglia, which would later appear in one of the Harry Potter series as a flying car.

In 1991, J.K. Rowling left England to get a job as an English teacher in Portugal. Then soon she met her husband, got married, and had their first child Jessica. During the time her and her ex-husband divorced she began working hard as a single mother and began to write the Harry Potter novels. Now she is re-married to her new husband Neil and has 3 kids. She is also famous for her "rags to riches" life story, in which she progressed from living on welfare to multi-millionaire status within five years.

Books she has written.

J K Rowling is famous and known for being the author of "Harry Potter" books. She is an inspiring author because kids do actually love to read this books, even though they are really long. I like her a lot because she is very creative. Here is a list of books she wrote:

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (1997)
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (1998)
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (1999)
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2000)
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2003)
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2005)
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (2007)

Her best selling book was "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix."

The great thing about these books is that they also have movies to go with them except for “The Deathly Hallows.” They are very enjoyable to watch. Mostly mystery and suspense.

She has written some other books but they we're not as popular as the Harry Potter books. Here are a list of the other books she wrote:

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2001)
Quidditch Through the Ages (2001)
The Tales of Beedle the Bard (2008)
